In this session, we will examine the role of the city—especially Tehran—in the poetry of Mohammad Ali Sepanlou. As one of the most prominent contemporary poets, Sepanlou approaches the city with a precise and sensitive perspective, portraying it not merely as a place, but as a landscape of memory, history, and lived experience.
Through reading and analyzing selected poems, we will attempt to reinterpret the image of Tehran in Sepanlou’s work by exploring his language, spatial imagination, and poetic tone. We will also move toward addressing the question of how the city, in his poetry, transforms into a living and meaningful presence.
