Time and Location

Feb 26, 2026, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

West Vancouver Memorial Library, 1950 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1J8, Canada

In this session, we will try to revisit the concept of “hope” in Farsi poetry, from classical to contemporary—not merely as a personal emotion, but as a linguistic, historical, and at times resistant force. We will explore how hope in Farsi poetry has emerged from loss, exile, defeat, and devastation, taking on diverse forms—mystical, romantic, social, and political.

Alongside close readings of selected texts, we will also ask: Is hope in Farsi poetry a promise of the future, or a way of enduring the present?

Coordinators: Dr Leila Raei - PhD in Persian Literature Dr Meysam Khataminia - PhD in Persian Literature
