Join us for the second free movie night with refreshments and light snacks. In this session, we will watch three different movies from Iran, Afghanistan, and Canada. All movies have either English or Farsi subtitles.
After the event, the audience will have a chance to interact with the directors and producers of all three documentaries.
1. My Dream Goes All the Way to Iran - Negar Mojtahedi (Canada)
"My Dream Goes All the Way to Iran" is an English documentary (with Farsi subtitles) by the young Iranian director Negar Mojtahedi. The film portrays the experiences of Iranian immigrants who have settled in Canada, as they reminisce about the glorious past of Iran and share stories about various cities across the country. Through their narratives, the documentary provides a unique perspective on the rich history and culture of Iran, as seen through the eyes of those who have left their homeland but still hold it dear in their hearts.
2. Historical Dragon - 8AM Daily (Afghanistan)
The "Historical Dragon" is a documentary about the ancient walls of Kabul. in this documentary you get to know about the history of the Kabul Walls, the date of construction and reconstruction as well as the current condition of those walls.
3. Chenarestan (Plane Tree Land) - Hadi Afaride (Iran)
This documantary won the "Iranian Documentary Festival" Award. It features the late Iranian actor and urban historian, "Morteza Ahmadi", reviewing 100 years of history of "Valiasr" Street (Formerly known as Pahlavi), the longest streat in the Middle East. The film tells the story of the worlds logest "Plane Tree Land" in a historical structure, using a hundred years of archive footage from 50 different locations.
